The morning that we leave Rome is actually the earliest of the trip...
so I was sure to set serval alarms, our goal was to be out the door around 6am. It was the funniest feeling not to have the entire group on the bus, but those of us who booked the Greece extension were so excited for this portion of the journey. When we loaded the bus this morning we all had to pack a separate overnight bag so that when we got to the ship we could store our big luggage and just take our backpacks and tote bags into the cabins.
I think everyone took a 3 hour nap en route to Pompeii...
until our tour director woke us up to point out Mt Vesuvius. Upon arrival to Pomeii, the group made sure to lather up with sunscreen because it was very hot out. Then we met our guide that would take us on a private tour of the excavation site. We spent about 2 hours inside the ruins then had some free-time to grab lunch and do some gift shopping.
Ciao Italy!

Overnight Ship To Greece
airplane airport

Once back on the bus, we drove from the west to east coast of Italy to board our overnight ship that departed from Bari. I really didn’t know what to expect from the ship experience but it was pretty fun in the end and the rooms were totally fine, it felt like being at camp.

Once we were on board it was free time, so most of us grabbed dinner in the ship restaurant, some stopped by the ship bar and we all watched the most incredible sunset as we sailed the Adriatic sea east. Inside the ship cabins were 3 other girls and myself from the tour with two sets of bunkbeds. All rooms had an ensuite shower and toilet, plus outlets to charge our phones. I bought the WIFI on the boat and it worked ok but I didn’t really need it. I ended up sleeping so long this night which was great to catch up on sleep before Greece.

As always breakfast is included, the ship captain gave us our breakfast time when we boarded. The ship ported in Greece around noon, Greek time – there was one hour time change. When we ported in Greece we had a bus waiting for us to drive us to Poros! A lot of downloaded Mama Mia to watch on the way to our island !

The amount of places that we visited was amazing. The people on the trip were great, and having everything planned out for us was perfect.
