After checking into our Rome hotel, everyone was free to do as they wished this evening. We had been given Roma Passes by our Tour Director that covered all public transportation in the city. Most of the group decided to join our Tour Director for an evening walk past some more of Rome’s iconic sights like the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Panteon and Piazza Navona – where finally we all went and got the pizza we were craving! After dinner most of us met up in Campo dei Fiore at a pub where we had the most fun night and even did karaoke.
The next morning we had a completely free day in Rome until our group dinner that evening. I decided it was my mission to get a photo at the Trevi Fountain without the crowds so my tour director advised I should get there at 7am and somehow I made it – and the shots turned out great! I had booked tickets to the Vatican Museums – how you see the Sistine Chapel – before I even left for this trip which I was thankful for because they did sell out in the days leading up to our time in Rome. I spent about 3 hours in the Vatican Museums, did some shopping and enjoyed some gelato before meeting the group that evening in the hotel lobby for that night’s program.
Since not everyone booked the Greece extension, this night was some of our group’s last night of the trip so they were wrapping up some end-of-tour business with our tour director like flights for the next morning, tour surveys and tipping our tour director and bus driver. We have a bus take us to dinner in the Roman neighborhood of Trastevere – where we enjoy a pizza party celebrating how great our journey has been thus far!
