My OSU European Grad Trip
Going on a grad trip to Europe was the best decision I ever made and I can't wait to tell you why - over the next few months - as I relive my trip from start to finish!

Wow our time in London flew by so fast...
but it was so much fun! So after two quick sleeps in our first destination – we woke up ready to depart for Paris. We had an early breakfast at the hotel then loaded onto a bus to take us to the nearby train station – since we were a little early some of us ran over to check out the Platform 9 ¾ at King’s Cross Station. There was security for the Eurostar kind of like going to the airport – then once we were inside the gates I loaded up on snacks for the train ride since we were going straight into the city tour in Paris. The train ride itself was only 2.5 hours which I used to do some free-time planning with some of my fellow travelers. We also practiced some basic French phrases with our tour director which was super helpful since I didn’t know any French before this trip.
We arrived in Paris by early afternoon...
with the +1 hour time change from London and immediately met our local city guide on the platform of Gare du Nord. We loaded our luggage onto the bus that was waiting for us and just like that we were on a guided driving tour of Paris – I loved how this was the first thing we did because it really gave me an understanding of the layout of the city and what I wanted to go back and see in my free time the following day. We also stopped the bus a few times for photo opportunities so we all immediately got our obligatory Eiffel Tower pic! Once our bus tour wrapped up we were dropped off at our hotel, unloaded our luggage and our tour director passed our room keys along with our 2-day Paris Metro passes.

A memorable dinner and unforgettable Seine River cruise
Paris - Day 1
airplane airport

Everyone had about an hour or so to get ready (we decided to get dressed up this night, wasn’t necessary but glad we did!) or explore the area by the hotel before our planned events for this first night in Paris. Our director took us by metro – I was thankful I didn’t have to figure it out by myself for the first time – and we had an amazing group meal at a local Parisian Brasserie including starter, main, dessert and wine. Directly after dinner was our Seine River cruise – one of my top memories from the entire trip! I feel like the group really bonded this night and seeing the Eiffel Tower sparkle together was an iconic moment. Afterwards, some of us stayed out to enjoy the City of Light a little longer and some rested up for the full free day ahead.

Paris - Day 2
explore explore

On the next morning – our full day in Paris – I made sure to eat a big breakfast at the hotel (lots and lots of croissants) since I had created a jam-packed schedule for the day ahead. Around 9 am a group of us went with our Tour Director to the Fragonard Perfume Museum which is where I got the BEST souvenir gifts for my friends & family. The museum tour was short and sweet then we got to sample all the French perfumes and shop our favorites.

From there we were free to go for the day and explore Paris on our own. With some friends I went in the Louvre, Musée d'Orsay and Sainte Chapelle, through the Tuileries Garden, along the banks of the Seine, by the Arc de Triumph – ate crepes, macarons and croque monsieurs under the Eiffel Tower and must have walked minimum 20k steps! Some people ventured out to Versailles, some went shopping, some explored the Catacombs – there were so many possibilities!

Some of the group I was exploring with – including myself were participating in the Cabaret Show Optional Activity, which meant going to the famous Moulin Rouge! I cannot stress enough how cool this experience was – the theatre is so cute and we got to sit at a table up close with just our group. Champagne was waiting for us and the show had so many acts it blew us away - the late night was totally worth it!
