My OSU European Grad Trip
Going on a grad trip to Europe was the best decision I ever made and I can't wait to tell you why - over the next few months - as I relive my trip from start to finish!

Just about a week after graduation...
my trip was due to start so things were hectic to say the least. I knew as long as I had my documents and flight that I would be OK but I wanted to do some planning ahead for the free time we would have on tour - for me going to the Louvre Museum was a bucket list item and I'm so glad I booked ahead to skip the line.
Time to plan and pack...
if I could re-do it, I would definitely pack lighter! Not only for the ease of getting around but after buying souvenirs and shopping in my free time, my suitcase was overflowing. Next time I also wouldn’t forget a portable charger, rain jacket, sunscreen, and my kindle for longer travel days!

The most exciting part about preparing for the tour...
was joining my group’s BAND – the messaging platform we used during the tour & how our tour director gave us the daily itinerary with times, meeting places, etc. It was fun to message with the other travelers and talk about our plans for the tour – some were even able to meet up at the airport!
My experience at the airport...
all went smooth – I checked my big luggage then just had a backpack where I packed a change of clothes for the next day since I would be flying overnight. Due to all the anticipation, I unfortunately wasn’t able to get much sleep on the flight, but I had so much adrenaline I somehow powered through the day. I landed in London super early and had a bit of time to wait for the rest of the group so used this time to freshen up for the day, grab a coffee and start to meet the other travelers and our tour director – who is with us until the end of the tour & they really brought the energy to wake us up!
Arriving at Heathrow Airport
London - Day 1
airplane airport

From Heathrow Airport, our tour director led us to our private motor coach, and we started the drive into London which took about an hour and it was crazy seeing people drive on the other side of the road. My group got to the hotel around 11am and we held our luggage with the concierge as rooms weren’t ready until the afternoon – which was fine because we were starving, and everyone’s first mission was to get some food, so it was perfect this entire day/afternoon was free time. After lunch I ended up going to the British Museum, which was free (!), did some shopping and took a super quick nap once I checked into my room.

This evening was our first planned event as an entire group – so around 6pm we met in our hotel lobby and had a quick orientation meeting led by our tour director which was so helpful and we got to ask all our questions about options, money, tickets, etc. After the meeting we took off directly for the pub crawl which maybe was one of my favorite nights on the tour – it was super flexible and casual but as a group of 35 people we managed to squeeze into about 3 pubs, then groups broke off to grab a bite to eat and we ended up meeting up later for live music and a super fun night out in London!

Exploring the city with a local expert
London - Day 2

The next morning, we got to try a full English breakfast – every morning the whole tour you have breakfast at the hotel actually. And around 9am we met in the lobby for our guided city tour of London – which was amazing, and I learned so much!

We ended the tour around 1pm and had the entire afternoon/evening free and our tour director supplied us with so many tips and suggestions for what we could do like lunch at Borough Market, nearby museums or how to get to the famous Beatles Abbey Road crossing, vintage shopping in Shoreditch and literally so much more

We also had to decide this day whether or not we were going to participate in the Moulin Rouge optional activity in Paris – more to come on this next but I can promise you it’s 10000% worth it!
