San Jose
San Jose, the capital, is on a plateau in the Central Valley at 4,900 ft elevation. It is ringed by lush green mountains and valleys. Poás Volcano & Las Paz Waterfall Gardens
Poás volcano is a powerful symbol of the geothermal forces that formed Costa Rica. When the mist and clouds part you'll see the sulfuric, bubbling, green rain fed lake at the bottom, surrounded by smoke and steam rising from fumaroles. Poás is active, but don't expect to see a full fledged eruption or even any lava flow here. When you think about Costa Rica, you probably imagine lush tropical Rain Forests, flowing white rivers, spectacular waterfalls, birds, butterflies and flowers. Arenal
Arenal Volcano has been constantly active since it woke up after 400 years in 1968, changing the area forever. One of the world's most active volcanos, Arenal produces huge ash columns, explosions and glowing red lava almost every day. A visit to Costa Rica is not complete without a stop at spectacular Arenal Volcano. This lava makes the area a prime location for thermal springs and all of the delightful spa activities that accompany them, as well as creating the paths for world class waterfalls, such as the La Fortuna Waterfall that flows along an ancient volcanic flow. A plethora of trails exist all over the Arenal Volcano National Park and there are many tours and activities available to visitors. Fascinating fauna and flora exist here in amazing quantities making this a prime location for viewing many different species of plant and animal.

Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge
The Caño Negro National Wild Life Refuge is the best ecological site with the emerald basilisc, iguanas, river turtles and caimans and is considered one of the best sites to see wild animals concentrations. Also common to this area are jaguars, ocelots and giant ant bears.

Tamarindo Beach
The long bay of Tamarindo with its light colored sand beaches is an ideal place for swimming and extended beach walks. People visit Playa Tamarindo for golf, boat trips, horseback riding, sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing and surfing. The small town of Tamarindo offers many restaurants and bars to enjoy the nightlife.
